Away Resorts – Golden Sands
Overview & Location
Golden Sands is a holiday park owned and operated by Away Resorts, located in Kinmel Bay / Rhyl on the North Wales coast. The setting gives you direct beach access (or very easy access) so you’re never far from the sand.
The park offers a range of accommodation options to suit different budgets and needs, from caravans and chalets up to luxury lodges (some with hot tubs) and dog-friendly units.
It’s a family-oriented resort, with facilities and entertainment aimed at keeping all ages active or relaxed.
Accommodation Types
Some of the main options:
Static caravans — various grades (from comfort to “luxury”) with central heating, veranda, double glazing etc.
Luxury lodges, including ones with hot tubs and more premium finishes.
Chalets — smaller, more modest but still comfortable options.
Some units are adapted for accessibility: ramps, wet rooms etc.
The park also sells holiday homes / lodges / caravans for ownership.
On-site Facilities & Amenities
- Indoor Heated Pool – There is a heated indoor swimming pool, a bubble pool, and a toddlers’ pool for family use.
- Amusement Arcade – The park has an arcade with classic and modern video games, coin pushers, claw machines etc.
- Outdoor Adventure Playground – For children: slides, climbing, etc. Outdoor space for play.
- Sports Court – Multi-use court (football, basketball, tennis etc.). No booking required.
- Sandpiper Restaurant & Sports Bar – Family-friendly restaurant/bar, showing sporting events, serves food & drinks through the day. Dogs allowed in non-carpeted areas.
- Bar Carousel (Entertainment Venue) – Live entertainment, evening shows, performances; there is a food-to-go option. Note: “Bar Carousel is currently not serving food” (might be a temporary status).
- Catch 22 (Fish & Chips Takeaway) – On-site chippy for casual / takeaway meals.
- Guest Services & Holiday Home Sales Office – For general guest enquiries, assistance and also if interested in purchasing holiday homes.
- Accessibility Features – There are accessible units (wheelchair access, wet rooms, lower work surfaces etc.) for guests who require mobility accessible accommodation.
- Pet-Friendly Accommodation – Dogs are allowed in many units; some parts of the park / facilities may have restrictions.
- Entertainment Programmes – Daytime & evening entertainment provided by the resort: children’s discos, shows, family acts, etc
- Activities Booking & Experiences – There is an activities programme (arts & crafts, tie-dye, pottery painting, slime workshops, laser tag, Nerf challenge etc.) that can be booked via the Away Resorts app. Some are chargeable.
Things to be aware of / Limitations
Seasonal Hours: Some facilities (pool, entertainment, etc.) have seasonal or reduced hours depending on time of year. Always good to check ahead.
Advance Booking for Certain Facilities: E.g. pool sessions often need to be booked in advance.
Some Dog / Non-Dog Restrictions: Bars/restaurants may have areas where dogs are not allowed (carpeted areas etc.).
Food Outlets Variability: Some food outlets may not be always serving full menu or may be closed outside peak seasons.
